[Review] Family Adventure at Bangkok Safari & Marine Park

By Money Saving Daddy

Our adventure to the Bangkok Safari & Marine Park was driven by the desire to find a balance between fun and education for our children.

Situated on the outskirts of Bangkok, this destination promised a day filled with unique animal encounters and learning opportunities.

Location:

The park's convenient location outside Bangkok made it an ideal getaway. We chose a transport service that included ticket purchases, but I later realized that booking tickets online could have saved us money, a tip worth sharing for future visitors.

You may want to also plan Chocolate Ville for the same day itinerary as it is just 20-30 mins away from the Safari Zoo.

Preparation:

Preparation involved packing essentials like sunscreen, hats, and comfortable walking shoes for a day of exploration.

Booking tickets online can offer discounts and is a good way to save some money.

Detailed Day Itinerary :

  • 10:00 AM - Orangutan Show: Our day began with the playful and engaging Orangutan Show. This was a fantastic start, as it was included in the entrance fee and offered both entertainment and a glimpse into the intelligence of these creatures.
  • 11:00 AM - Elephant Show: Next, we were captivated by the majestic elephants. This show was not only entertaining but also an eye opener for the kids that these huge animals can perform certain tricks.
  • 12:00 PM - Lunch: For lunch, our driver drove us out for lunch.
  • 1:00 PM - Safari Drive-In: The drive-in safari allowed us to see various animals in more naturalistic settings, which was both exciting and educational for the kids. It is pretty up close and personal. If you waited till 2.30pm, you may get to see the tiger feeding in the safari itself.
  • 2:00 PM - Giraffe Feeding Encounter: For 150 baht per bucket, the giraffe feeding was an affordable and unforgettable experience. It was interactive and fun, allowing us to get up close with these gentle giants.
  • 3:30 PM - Tiger Photo Encounter: The tiger photo encounter, costing 500 baht per person, was a thrilling and unique experience. It provided an up-close look at these beautiful animals, making for a memorable photo opportunity. Although it is just less than 1 minute.
  • 3.45 PM - Orangutan Photo Encounter: Similarly, the orangutan photo encounter, also 500 baht per person, was a delightful experience. Getting close to these fascinating primates was a highlight for the kids.

Pros and Cons:

Good:

  • Variety of Activities: The park offered a wide range of shows and encounters, ensuring there was something interesting for everyone.
  • Educational Aspect: Each show and encounter was designed to be informative, teaching us about different animal species and conservation efforts.
  • Interactive Nature: The interactive experiences like feeding giraffes and the photo encounters were particularly memorable, allowing personal interaction with the animals.

Not so good:

  • Limited Food Options: The limited and slightly expensive food options within the park could be a concern, especially for families with children. Hence, our driver also took us out for lunch at a local eatery. Food are pretty affordable there.
  • Extra Costs: While the entry fee was reasonable, the additional expenses for special encounters like the photos was abit turn off. But then again, if it is include in the ticket, we would see long queues for the photo encounters.

Costing:

  • Entry Fees: The entrance fee to the park was in line with the variety of experiences it offered. 1200baht for adults, 1100 baht for kids. Online tickets are cheaper if they have promotion [Check here for details]
  • Special Encounters: Additional charges were applicable for unique experiences like the giraffe feeding (150 baht per bucket) and photo encounters (500 baht per person for both tigers and orangutans).
  • Transport: 3000 baht, include pick up and hotel till drop off at Chocolate Ville.

Our day at the Bangkok Safari & Marine Park was a remarkable mix of adventure, learning, and fun. It's an excellent destination for families visiting Bangkok.

To make the most of your visit, consider booking tickets online, preparing a budget for additional experiences, and possibly bringing your own snacks.
