I have never been to Taiwan / Taipei before. So when we booked the trip, I was thinking like 7 days. How to do Taiwan up down left right.

So we decided to do just Taipei and day trip around Taipei. So the next time, we do not need to come back for Taipei City.

And I thought it was be just another city you know.

With my two daughters excited for an adventure, Taipei turned out to be one of the best places for families.

The city is full of fun activities, tasty food, and unforgettable experiences.

Here are seven reasons why Taipei is a great family destination, plus a bonus day trip idea that made our trip extra special.

7 Reasons Why Taipei is a Perfect Family Destination

1. Kid-Friendly Attractions

One of the highlights of our trip was visiting Taipei 101.

My daughters were amazed by the view from the top.

The observation deck gave us breathtaking sights of the whole city.

We made sure to visit before sunset to enjoy both day and night views.

After enjoying the view, we explored the mall below Taipei 101.

It was a fun way to spend time, with plenty of shops and snacks.

It was a mix of fun and education, making it one of our favorite stops.

2. Delicious Food for All

Taipei’s food scene was perfect for our family.

One night, we went to Shilin Night Market and tried the famous fried chicken cutlet.

It was crispy and delicious, and my daughters loved every bite.

Another favorite for our girls was bubble tea.

We had it several times, always without sugar, and it became their favorite drink.

They enjoyed the chewy tapioca pearls, and it was refreshing even without the sweetness.

Simple meals like rice with soup or braised pork rice (lu rou fan) also worked well for my kids.

The food was mild but full of flavor, which was perfect for them.

3. Rich Cultural Experiences

We did not just eat—we learned a lot too!

On a day trip to Yilan, we visited the National Center for Traditional Arts.

My daughters loved the hands-on activities like soap making.

It was a fun way for them to learn about Taiwan’s culture.

The center also had other traditional art workshops and performances.

It was a great place for kids to learn while having fun.

We brought home some of the crafts they made, which are now special keepsakes from our trip.

4. Easy and Affordable Transportation

Getting around Taipei was easy thanks to the city’s MRT system.

The trains were clean, fast, and stroller-friendly, which made our trips stress-free.

My daughters enjoyed the themed trains that added a playful touch to our rides.

With the Taipei Fun Pass, we did not worry about paying for every trip.

It covered unlimited rides and entry to attractions, which helped us save money.

5. Safe and Clean Environment

As a parent, safety is very important.

Taipei was one of the safest cities I have visited.

The streets were clean, and there were plenty of public restrooms.

This made exploring the city with my kids so much easier.

Tip: Always carry a small first-aid kit.

You might need it for small scrapes or cuts while out and about.

6. Shopping and Night Market Fun

Shopping in Taipei was fun for the whole family.

Ximending was full of trendy clothes and fun accessories, perfect for my daughters.

But the best part was the night markets.

At Shilin Night Market, my daughters not only enjoyed food but also the kids' games.

They played games like ring toss and won small prizes.

It was the perfect mix of fun and snacks, and the lively atmosphere made the night special.

7. Friendly Locals

What made our trip even more enjoyable were the locals.

Taipei’s residents are kind and welcoming.

My daughters got free candy from a shopkeeper just because they were polite.

The locals loved it when they said “Ni Hao” and “Xie Xie” (hello and thank you).

Teaching your kids a few simple Mandarin phrases is a great way to make them feel more involved.

It also made us feel more connected to the local culture.

Ready for Taipei?

Now that you know why Taipei is such a great family destination, what are you waiting for?

The city is full of fun activities, delicious food, and great memories waiting to happen.

From Taipei 101 to the night markets, there is something for everyone.

Bonus: Day Trip to Jiufen, Shifen, and Zhang Ama Farm

If you have extra time, consider a day trip to JiufenShifen, and Zhang Ama Farm in Yilan.

These places are great for kids and provide a mix of history, nature, and hands-on experiences.

Jiufen:

A charming old town with narrow streets.

Fans of Spirited Away will love the magical feel of Jiufen’s streets.

Shifen:

We released sky lanterns into the sky.

Watching our wishes float into the night was a magical moment for our family.

Zhang Ama Farm:

A fun farm where kids can feed animals, pick fruits, and learn about farm life.

My daughters loved the hands-on experience!
