Maxx vs Eight (May 2025): Which SIM Only Plan Is Best for Data and Roaming in Singapore?

By Money Saving Daddy

25 May 2025

If you have been following my SIM only plan reviews, you probably saw my previous post on Maxx vs Eight (you can check out my old review here: Maxx vs Eight – Who Offers the Best SIM Only Plan? October 2024 Update).

Now, both Maxx and Eight have refreshed their offers, so here is the latest, no-nonsense comparison for 2025.

Let us look and compare, tier by tier, and see which one is more shiok for your needs.

Which Plan is More Worth It?

If you want the lowest price and everything at your fingertips, Maxx $7.90 is a real winner. The Maxx app is easy to use, and their hotline support is fast. You get a bit more data and SMS, so it is fuss-free for most users.

After the first 12 cycles, the price goes up to $9.90, but it is still reasonable for the amount of data you get.

Eight Double Eight is the better choice if you need more local talktime or make a lot of overseas calls.

The IDD minutes bundled in are really generous, especially if you have family or friends overseas.

The only thing is you have to use their web dashboard, and support is slower compared to Maxx.

For those who need to call overseas, this plan gives you real value.

Which Plan is More Power?

Maxx $12 is for those who want a huge data bundle and plenty of roaming, all managed easily with their app. The IDD minutes are split by country, so you need to check if your destination is covered. Support is fast with their hotline, and everything is settled quickly.

Eight Fortune Eight is the top pick if you want more talktime, SMS, and a big chunk of IDD minutes that is easy to use. The data and roaming are almost the same as Maxx $12, but the extra local calls and SMS make it great for those who are always on the phone. You need to use a web dashboard, and support is not as fast, but for value, this plan really delivers if you call and travel often.

Ultimate Power User: Eight Triple Eight ($18)

For $6.20 more, you get an extra 100GB local data, 10GB more APAC roaming, 2GB more international roaming, 200 more local call minutes, 60 more SMS, and 100 more IDD minutes (exclude Myanmar).

If you are a super heavy user, travel a lot, or call overseas daily, the upgrade is worth it for the peace of mind and freedom to use as much as you want.

If you are not maxing out your usage every month, Fortune Eight is already very solid and gives you almost everything you need for less.

If you want to see how these compare to last year’s offers, check out my previous review for reference.

With these latest updates, you can pick the best SIM only plan for your needs, whether you are a data monster, frequent traveller, or just want the most value for your money.
