Loti’s First Month in Pre-School, Playgroup

By Money Saving Daddy

18 Months ago, Baby Loti was still a little baby. Time flies and in February, she turned 18 months and ready for Pre-School.

Near the end of January, we were still thinking if we should put in her Pre-School due to the Wuhan Virus thingy (now known as COVID 19)

Singapore is still preparing for the crisis and a lot of companies were having their Business Continuity Plan.

We were finding information that if we decided to put them later the month or next month; Will that be possible?

But with this delay, we may be giving up our queue and let the next kid in. Then we need to requeue again.

So the next question comes up.

Will there be a pro-ration of fees, if we put her 2 weeks later.

After some consideration, we decided to bring her to the Pre-School on Monday. Because we do not know how long this crisis will last. And we are also depriving her of school activities.

She has been following Daddy since birth. I think she will have more activities at school than at home.

Anyways, this is also not her first time at a Pre-School. During our japan snowboard trip, we actually put her in a 1 daycare center for 1 day.

1st Day of PreSchool

Because uniform no stock, so she has to wear home clothes till the stock come. Good for us anyways.

We reached there at 9am, and there was a queue to check the kids temperature, uclers on the hand, foot and mouth. I guess HFMD is a very common thing in childcare centers hence this procedure.

During the first 2 days, we are allowed to accompany the kids throughout the whole day. But due to the Covid19 virus, only 1 parent is allowed during this period.

So me and mummy rotated.

The good thing is, first lesson is playground followed by Gym Lessons. And when she saw the ballpit, she head straight for it and totally forgotten about me.

So I took this opportunity to sneak to somewhere that she cannot see me.

Baby Loti Coping Fine

Seeing that she is coping fine with new environment. The teacher suggested that we can put her for a full day, and see how. We can pick her up after her nap, which is 3pm.

As first time parents, I asked the teacher "What are the usual things that parents will ask?"

And what are the usual things that the teacher will ask the parents?

This pretty much sums up the FAQ of parents and teachers mah.

So, I highlighted her habits, activities and especially her sleeping habits. The rest of her day activities are easy to manage.

Then we secretly sneaked off while taking some pictures of her from outside.

2 Days of Peeping

As this is the only 2 days that we can take a peek at her during school time, we took turns peep at her.

For a first day kid, she seemed to be doing well. Except that she is very restless and cannot sit still.

And the teachers also took turns to let her sit on their laps, carry her during lesson time.

But at least she did not cry at all.

Pick Up at 5pm

So we waited till 5pm, then we went to pick her up. Wah, the queue at 5pm to pick up is long sia! Parents are waiting outside, while the teachers get their kids out from the center.

Cry!

The moment Baby Loti saw us, she cried badly. She probably missed us badly. But after awhile she okay already.

Dinner at 6.30pm

So we brought her home and fed her dinner at around 6.30pm. Surprisingly, she had no issues on being fed. She finished up her food easily in 15mins.

Wow!

Playtime at 7pm

Instead of letting her idle at home, we decided to bring her downstairs to have some outdoor activities.

This time round, she is excited to bring Mickey down for a walk. So why not?

Shower Time at 7.30pm

After playtime, then is shower time liao lor.

After shower, watch abit tv or cartoon or play some toys can get ready for bed liao.

Bedtime + Milktime at 10pm

So we tuned down abit the activities at 9pm, then try to make her sleep. But she doesn't want to sleep. Keep hopping around, etc.

So we fed her milk at 9.30pm, hoping she will knock out. But hor, she machiam still a dragon after the milk. So we just played with her.

Suddenly 10pm, she laid down and knocked out. And for the entire week, also like that.

Swee lah! Her routine now fixed liao.

2nd Week at the PreSchool

So sway sway she had abit of cough on the 2nd week. So we didn't bring her to school until Wednesday.

She was still crying during the dropoff, but crying lesser during the pickup.

Her daily routine is getting better and her appetite as well.

3rd Week + 4th Week

And during the 3rd week, she starts to cry lesser during the dropoff.

And she is happily and cheerful during the pick up.

More Expressions

And after she went to preschool, she starts to have more expression.

She sings along to the nursery rhymes.

Start to mimic what we said to her. And now she even start to say yes, want instead of no and don't want.

Wonderful growth! It is a good call, to put her in preschool.
