Today we happen to go jiaks at Beauty in the Pot at Changi Jewel.
Beauty in the Pot and Hai Di Lao are known for their premium service and ingredients.
And of course they charge for their condiment.
Particular about the Condiment
I sibei particular about the Condiment. Firstly because it is chargeable. $4 per pax.
Secondly is. I like my steamboat ingredient to submerge in the flavourful sauce I specially made.
So, I went to the condiments counter and sibei disappointed that we cannot DIY our own sauce.
Unlike Haidilao where they station a staff at the station to help us customise or prepare our sauce.
At Beauty in the Pot, you can order their specially prepared sauce through the ipad. So I asked if I can customise my own sauce.
The staff said yes and was waiting for my instructions. But hor, how would I know what to put in without having the list?
You must go see the list then you can instruct offhand like that mah. So we wanted 3 kinds of sauce.
1st Sauce : Sweet Thai Chilli Sauce
Wah this one sibei disappointing. They give me mala Sauce with Sweet Thai Chilli sauce. #fail
2nd Sauce: Soya Sauce with Sesame Oil, Sesame Seed and Fried Garlic
The entire sauce sibei oily with Sesame Oil flooded the whole saucer.
3rd Sauce: My Special Sauce
- Fried Garlic
- Garlic
- Sesame Oil
- Spicy Sour Thai Sauce
- Chilli Padi
- 2x Spring Onion
- 2x Coriander
It came In 6 Saucers. Sibei upset.
So, having been to HaiDiLao, I asked if I can go to their internal condiment counter to instruct the person to prepare my special sauce.
Cannot
Cannot go in Kitchen.
Wah this one sad. So in the end, I mixed à bit of those condiments into 1 saucer. And reorder the fried Garlic and Thai Dip condiment. So I can mixed my own one.
Truly disappointing experience.

A Tip
What you can do is just order each of the Condiment you want and mixed it in on your own, instead of them preparing for you.
Because sometimes you just wanted a few drips of sesame oil. But they give you half tub of it.
