Today we welcome the arrival of baby sushi at Mount Alvernia Hospital!
And best of all, she has the same birthday with daddy!
With the covid situation, there are many more restrictions in hospital.
Admission till 3am
We went at 1am because we wanted to check in past midnight to avoid the previous day charge.
So we go jiak supper and slowly proceed there. Then when check-in, we told that no 1 bedder available. Only 2 bedder nia.
Then I check in 1am for what right?
Might as well 7am next morning then come.
Somemore 2 bedder cannot lie down and have companion. So lucky the missy allow me to stay at the ward till the next person check in (hopefully at 9am).
So heng lor.
Then the paperwork and preparation started.
All these préparation lasted more than an hour and 3am then we get to rest.
Then mummy realise she forgot bring her spectacles. 爱美lor. Still wearing contact lense. So bo pian, blind till the next day liao lor.
So remember to bring along your spectacle ah.
7.30am
Wake up and wash up to prepare to the operating theatre. The procedure very fast, got escort bring you up to the OT.
Only this week they start to allow husband to accompany mummy to the OT.
8am – Change PPE
Because of the covid situation, instead of the surgery wear. Husbands are required to Don the PPE.
This one confirm not cheap lor. Hopefully they don’t carrot us. Because amazon sell $15 nia.
Take Picture
So the purpose of going in the OT is to witness the baby come out. As a 2nd time dad, I’m less kan chiong.
Although mummy still very kan chiong. But who go OT not kan chiong one sia.
So I asked if I can peep at the operation. They say better not. I was thinking OK la. Later I get phobia of eating kway chup then siao liao.
So after a few minutes, the baby pops out!
Baby is out safe and mummy is safe too! Good job mummy!
Check Baby
Apparently this time they can only check the baby and give you the information before entering the nursery. Previously in 2018, you can follow the mid wife or doctor to the nursery.
Check fingers, check toes, check eyes, check noses, check ears.
All okay!
8.30am – Return to Ward and Wait
So, now what I need to do is go Ward and wait for mummy to return. Most of the things are done liao.
Now is wait for updates from the Gynaecologist and Paediatrician.
9.30am – Mummy is back
And I also received an SMS to inform.
Aiya, 早知道 I go la kopi and wait at the cafe la. The 2bedder ward, I also no sofa to relax. No bed to lie down.
Mummy still feeling the numbness from the epidural. But we are glad mummy and baby is safe.
The Construction Started
Our ward (St Rapheal) at Mount Alvernia Hospital is near their new extension construction site. Although it is not facing the site, but still can hear the piling works.
Really sibei loud. I wonder those maternity ward facing the site one. How they cope sia? Will they be given ear plugs?
At first I still thinking if we wanna save àbit of money and stay at the 2bedder ward. Can save around $1300 leh.
Because the other couple also wanted to shift. So if they shift, we may get the room to ourselves leh.
But the construction works really sibei loud. I think better not la. Plus, I’m bring Loti over later in the evening. She got no sofa to seat.
So we opt to upgrade if there is any availability.
Went home Nap and Pick Loti from Sch
At 1pm plus, I really cannot liao. Sibei tired. So head home to take a nap and pick loti from school.
We were still thinking how Loti will react when she see mei mei.
But heng heng or what. Loti is very caring towards mei mei. Wanna carry her and sayang her.
Sibei sweet lor.
And of course, today is also my birthday. We had a mini celebration at the hospital.
With Mummy, Loti and Sushi. ❤️❤️
