4 Days in Port Dickson Lexis Hibiscus From Singapore – Travelling With Newborn

By Money Saving Daddy

We enjoy road trip a lot during our time in France. So now planning a road trip as well to Port Dickson, and of course we are travelling with our newborn.

Port Dickson is a Town in Malaysia, 90km away from Kuala Lumpur.

They have some of Malayisia’s iconic beach resort.

First time Travel with Newborn

This is the first time we are travelling with our newborn. There are so many uncertainties and excitement in this trip with our newborn.

We are researching for a baby friendly destination and the first that came to our mind is road trip to Malaysia.

But there are so many options and destinations.

At first, we are looking at

  • Take a plane to Penang
  • Take a ferry to Bintan
  • Drive to Genting
  • Drive to Port Dickson
  • Drive to Malacca

So we looked at our requirements.

  • Baby-friendly
  • Less walking
  • Less crowd
  • Easy and accessible to the car.

Apparently, we are left with Malacca and Port Dickson. So Port Dickson will have a lesser crowd, so Port Dickson is the winner!

Then at Port Dickson we are torn between Grand Lexis and Lexis Hibiscus.

Lexis Hibiscus vs Grand Lexis Port Dickson

Lexis Hibiscus

  • More expensive
  • Looks newer
  • Distance to Port Dickson town is further
  • Luxurious feel
  • The pool has no steps if want to travel with kids. Only ladders

Grand Lexis

  • Cheaper by 50%
  • Interior looks old
  • The cheapest option - Relatively dark pools with no views
  • Nearer to Port Dickson Town
  • The pool has steps.

Because Lexis Hibiscus more expensive mah, yet looks so posh!

In the end, we went for Lexis Hibiscus in Port Dickson.

Introduction of Lexis Hibiscus - Port Dickson

They hold the World Guinness record for the most number of swimming pool in a resort.

Cool right!

Lexis Hibiscus is equipped with a pool and sauna in all its 639 rooms. The property is designed in the shape of the country’s national flower - the Hibiscus. The resort’s rooms stretches 1.2 kilometer from the beach to its furthest unit in the waters. The resort will also feature Asia’s highest fountain in the sea.

Day 1 - Singapore to Port Dickson Lexis Hibiscus

And so we commence our drive trip up to Port Dickson Lexis Hibiscus.

Packing

This is the first time we are travelling out of Singapore with our newborn. We also wanted to prepare ourselves in the case we are going travelling further down the road.

So with this trip it will be trial on what we missed out and what we actually do not need.

We initially planned for a 3 Days 2 Night trip. So we pack a big luggage and a stroller, with some Alibaba bags into the car. We are glad our mini car can fit in everything.

So prior to all these, we need to deposit our dogs at the Dog House.

The Drive from Singapore to Port Dickson

Singapore is 300+ km away from Port Dickson Lexis Hibiscus. It has been some time since we drove into Malaysia. Probably a 3 years back?

We went by Tuas Checkpoint and joined in the North South Highway, all the way till Exit 233, then take the small road to Lexis Hibiscus.

1st Stop - R & R

Change money and pump petrol. It is our usual practice to change money here and pump petrol at Petronas. Then I also realise, that in Johor Bahru, Singapor Cars are not allowed to pump 95 grade petrol.

Only can pump 97 and above.

So sway sway I stopped at the pump with Fuel 95 and 100. (Wtf is Fuel 100?) Which is 50% more the cost at RM 3+ / litre.

But still cheaper than Singapore lah.

2nd Stop - Yong Peng Fish Ball Noodles

I always have the idea that Yong Peng’s stop serves lousy food at their bus terminal. Oh Damn, I was wrong! There is a famous Fish Ball Noodles restaurant on its on beside the Caltex station.

Their style is like Pontian Wanton Mee, Black sauce style. No ketchup one.

But taste is good, got some fragrance oil smell which makes it tasty. RM 7 for a bowl, less than S$2.50 lehs!

Some more got aircon seating. Where to find sia!

2nd Stop - Ayer Kerok R & R

This is one of the most popular stop when travelling up north, because they have A&W ! Most singaporeans will enjoy A&W especially their curly fries and root beer float.

Ayer Kerok R&R is just 40 mins from Port Dickson. So it is a very challenging decision for me to stop there as I want to chiong all the way to Port Dickson. Eventually, we surrender to the root beer float. Quickly dabao the root beer float and get to Pork Dickson before nightfall.

And we should have just dabao their chicken set meal lah. So we do not need to worry about our dinner later on.

Exit 223:

Once you exit 223, you will be travelling on winding small roads, so if you are full some eating something. Half the chance, you will feel nauseous. So it is a good thing, we just had drinks at Ayer Keroh.

Reach: Lexis Hibiscus

7pm.

Phew! From 1pm we left house, and it’s 7pm. As my knee is in brace, the security is kind enough to allow us to park at the hotel front instead of the guest carpark which is slight walking distance away.

Check in was fast, with our bookings. And our request for a sea view villa was granted. We had an awesome view! Although it is kinda far at the end of the area.

But they provide buggy services that take you to the door step.

Brought the hot pot kettle from Singapore

Inflating the Bathtub

Inside the Room: As per what we see online. Very clean and spacious, with 2 king size beds.

Comes with a fridge and a kettle. Still have some decoration on the bed.

Out of the sleeping area is the toilet / shower area. Where there is a cubicle for toilet and another one for shower. I was expecting a bathtub, but don’t have also ok lah.

Another door leads to the private pool area with a sauna, and a unblocked view of the sea!

Bathing the Little One:

Diaper Changing Station

We bought a inflatable bathtub for the little one knowing that there is no bathtub. It took me some time to pump up the bathtub and get it set up so that she can have a bath before she knocks out.

Dinner:

So it was like 8pm+, and we are feeling hungry. We can go out and eat at some restaurants but I very lazy to drive out after staying in the cosy room. So we looked up their room services menu and see what is good.

We settled for a chicken bucket meal which cost RM40 (RM 38 + RM2 Room Service). 6 Chickens with fries and a bottle of coke, and it is delivered to your room.

Why not right ?

Day 2 in Lexis Hibiscus

We woke up to a sunrise view. I was expecting that view to be a sunset view. But sunrise also shiok lah! So before we go for breakfast, I had a soak at the private pool. Feels really private especially no other pools are facing us.

Breakfast:

The breakfast area is the at the coffeehouse which is located at the main lobby. So to get there, we can either walk like 10mins or call for a buggy.

The average waiting time is 20mins, but within 5mins they were at our doorsteps. We were not expecting this, so we request for the buggy to wait for us and he was very nice enough to wait.

There were a lot of varieties for the breakfast, the indoor section and the outdoor where the fresh food like scrambled egg/ omelette and some minced meat noodles were being prepared.

Although there were a lot of varieties, only the nasi lemak caught my taste bud. I had it for 3 days!

By the time we finish eating, Baby French fries was getting impatient lying in the stroller. And it is her feeding time too. So we head back to the room to feed her as she does not likes to be fed outdoors somehow.

Activities in Lexis Hibiscus:

So the purpose of coming here is also to nua, if don’t enjoy the private pool then come here for what right?

Day 3:

We are actually supposed to leave today, but we extended another day. The stay was so enjoyable and nua.

So Day 3 is similar to day 2 lor.  But this time, we set up Baby’s swimming gear and get her to swim! It is her first time getting into the water and she enjoys. She didn’t cry though.

Dinner For Day 2 & 3:

Sambal Kang Kong

Salted Egg Squid

Lala - Clams

Butter Creamy Crab

Salted Egg Prawns

Butter Creamy Chicken

We specifically chose this restaurant because of the review and the aircon place. But the pictures was so different from the actual. My feelings kena cheated lor!

Nonetheless, we had a yummy dinner. The crabs were sold at RM 96 for 2, and not so fantastic. But the salted egg sotong was exceptionally delicious. If you are a fan of Salted Egg Sotong, you should come here and try out this dish.

And it is just RM18 for that dish. Sambal Kang Kong is RM11.

Total bill we had was RM130. Pretty value meal after considering the exchange rate.

Total bill for Day 3 was RM100.

Sleepy Head..

Day 4: Checking Out

Checking out at the resort is at 12pm. As we have so much to pack, it took us some time after our breakfast to pack the stuffs.

Attire for Day 4

I was expecting the reception and buggy to delay on the checking out, but everything was smooth without delay. And we had some time to take a RM15 family photo, with the Lexis Hibiscus backdrop.

Drive from Port Dickson to Singapore

The same route where we came from, but this time we are stopping at Ayer Keroh for a meal of A&W and root beer float from the mug.

1st Stop: A&W Ayer Keroh

A&W is still a favourite among Singaporeans. We still miss the root beer float even though nowadays we can DIY ourselves lah. Other than the root beer float, the rest of the menu seems normal.

All the Way

And all the way till the shell station nearest to Tuas Checkpoint. Along the way, it was raining heavily, but glad that we are back to Singapore safely.
