Food Panda Pro Subscription or Grab Unlimited : Which one is better?

The subscription war for the food delivery platform is back again.

Recently, I received notification on an early bird promotion for Grab Food subscriptions : Grab unlimited.

And Food Panda also introduced their subscription plan from $5.99 a month if you subscribe annually.

Today we will do a break down which one is a better option and how to best utilize these subscription.

GrabUnlimited ~ Beta

Grab unlimited cost $9.99 a month and $8.99 if you subscribe for 3 months.

The Monthly main perks are

PandaPro Subscription

Grab unlimited cost $7.99 a month and $5.99 $3.99 if you subscribe for 12 months.

The main perks are

• Free Delivery Selected Restaurants
• 20%  Off Selected Restaurants
• Extra 5% Off Pick Up on top of 15% Pick Up
• 10% Off PandaMart (Min order $15) x 2 Vouchers
• $3 Off in Store Payments

Food Delivery

PandaPro subscription only covers free delivery to selected restaurants.  And minimum order of $15.

And McDonald's is not one of them!

And also discounts for selected merchants.

So if your preferred merchants are not in the list. Then no point getting.

GrabFood

Grabfood unlimited only have discount of up to $4 for your orders. And minimum order has to be $18.

Most peak hours are around $3-$5 range. So every order you save $4. You just need to use 3 times you cover the cost of the subscription already.

Winner: Grab Unlimited

Pick Up

FoodPanda

One of the feature I like about all these app is the Pick up. If you always go dabao, you confirm like this feature - Especially for Tze Char during weekends. No need to join the queue and wait for 45 mins at the coffeeshop.

Just order via app and go down collect 45mins later.

PandaPro subscription offers 15% + 5% discount on your pick up order.

One of the favourite is use this for Liho!

Take for example the Tropical Avocado drink which I always order.

$7 on app, $6.50 on menu. If you have subscription, you are paying $5.60 (after 20% off).

And sometimes, you have additional 20% off promo code - HOHOPU (minimum order $16, capped at $5).

So my entire order from $16.80 become $13.44. 

1 cup only $4.48 compared to $6.50 if I buy in store.

GrabFood

Grabfood Unlimited do not have pick up promo. However, they do have promo codes for pick up.

With current promo code

At the point of writing, they offer a 25% pick up promo  (capped at $8) for selected Merchants.

So 1 cup is just $5.25 after 25% discount.

PandaMart vs GrabMart

FoodPanda

Foodpanda has Panda mart and under the Panda Pro subscription. Pandapro offers 10% off (minimum order $15) to their subscriber.

For this comparison we look at ordering 11x coke. (Need to hit minimum of $25 of GrabMart comparison)

$2.45 for 1.

Cost - $26.95
Delivery - $2.49
Platform Fee - $0.29
Discount - $1 (I duno from where)
10% PandaPro Discount - $2.62

Total: $27.11

Delivery is similar to their food delivery timeline. So usually within 30mins you will get your 10x coke already.

GrabFood

Grabfood Unlimited do not have on demand delivery for their grabmart stuffs. They only offer next day delivery. So in this case, GrabMart win liao.

But let's also look at their pricing. 

11 x Coke at $2.40

11 x Coke - $26.40
Delivery Fee - $4.99
Platform Fee - $0.30
$4 Discount - $4

Total - $27.69

Winner: FoodPanda

Overall, PandaMart cost lower for 11x Coke. The delivery is also much lower (Maybe at point of writing).

But paying $4.99 for next day delivery is still ex lah. If I can wait, I would have ordered from Shopee Supermarket already. 

Conclusion

Overall hor, Foodpanda subscription still good. And to get the most savings, I actually subscribed to both.

I want my MCD and my Tze Char pick up discount.

I just need to order 3x Mcd and Tze Char, I cover my cost of subscription already.

And FYI, my subscription was $5.99 x 12 Months instead of the $3.99 lor. I thought I had gotten a good deal.

Yes, I got both subscription. Since it's $8.99 + $5.99 per month.

As long I order more than 3 times for grabfood and 2-3 times for Food Panda. Cover cost already.

Ordering 6 times in a month is easy right? Considering you need to eat 3 meals a day.

Or say, you just wanna order for weekends. You have like 3 x 8 = 24 opportunities to order.
