Club Med Kiroro Grand Review: A Snowy Paradise for Families

If you are scouting for a spot where the whole fam can enjoy both chill and thrill, Club Med Kiroro is the gem. We recently just explored Club Med Kiroro Grand and the season before was at Club Med Tomamu.

This all-inclusive resort is nestled in Hokkaido’s snowy paradise, offering a cozy escape with a lot of un.

It's not just about staying; it's about experiencing.

Location: Prime Spot for Snow Fun

Club Med Kiroro sits in the heart of Hokkaido's snowy landscape, making it a prime spot for ski enthusiasts.

Just a short drive away from New Chitose airport (approximate 1.5 hours), you will pass by Otaru, where you can soak in some local culture and enjoy fresh seafood. If you are doing some self drive.

There are 2 Club Med Kiroro in the area.

  • Club Med Kiroro Grand - For Families with kids below 12 Years Old.
  • Club Med Kiroro Peak - For Families with teenager kids 12 and above.

Booking and Arrival: Smooth as Butter

Booking our holiday was as smooth as butter.

The Club Med website was straightforward, and their customer service was top-notch, helping us out whenever needed.

On arrival, the warm welcome set the perfect tone for our stay.

Fast check-in meant more time for fun, which, with kids buzzing with excitement, was a blessing.

Room and Facilities: Snug as a Bug

Our room was spacious and boasted stunning views of the snowy landscape.

It was squeaky clean, cozy, and came loaded with amenities.

Plus, it was kid-proof, making it worry-free for us parents.

The resort’s facilities, from the spa to the indoor pool, were top-class.

Family-Friendly Features: Kids’ Paradise

Kids’ Club and Activities

Club Med Kiroro knows how to keep the little ones entertained.

The Petit Club was a hit with Meimei, offering a range of activities from snow play to crafts and storytelling.

It was more than just a place to leave the kids; it was where they made memories.

Kids under 4 Years Old stay for free so somehow, the Petit Club charges 10,100 Yen a day. But for $100 a day, it's worth it to put your kids at the Petiti Club.

Ski Lessons for the Kiddos

Loti’s ski lessons were a blast.

The instructors were patient and made learning fun, focusing on play rather than strict instruction. It’s safe to say, the kids’ ski program here is fantastic for budding skiers.

Adults’ Snowboard Lessons

For us adults, the snowboard lessons were a mix. Depending on the instructor, some lessons were filled with detailed pointers, while others felt a bit rushed. Beginners might find the learning curve steep, but the instructors are generally supportive and helpful.

Gear Rental: No Fuss

Renting gear was straightforward, especially at the Club Med Kiroro Rental shop.

Unlike the Mountain Center, there were no early pick-up charges, making it convenient and slightly cheaper.

Price Difference:

Items

Club Med

Mountain Center

1 Day Snowboard

4,400 Yen

4,300 Yen

4 Days Snowboard

17,600 Yen

15,700 Yen

1 Day Kids Ski + Boots

7,100 Yen

6,000 Yen

4 Days Kids Ski + Boots

28,400 Yen

21,000 Yen

So we had 5 Days of snowboard + Ski for Kids.

We had to pay extra for early pick up of the gears too.

That Club Med didn't charge for that.

Our Mountain Center Total Cost :

  • 4 Days + 1 Day Snowboard = 20,000 x 2 Adults
  • Kids 4 Days + 1 Day Ski Gear = 25,500
  • Early Pick Up Charges = 1,000 x 2 + 2,000 = 4,000
  • Total = 69,500

If we Rented at Club Med

  • 5 Days Snowboard = 22,000 x 2
  • 5 Days Kids Ski = 35,500
  • Total = 79,500

So if we optimise more, we can save 10% by renting it online and collecting at Mountain Center. (Link for Online Rental)

If we rented for 5 Days straight.

  • 5 Days Snowboard = 17,550 x 2 Adults
  • 5 Days Kids Ski Gear = 23,400
  • Early Pick Up Charges = 1,000 x 2 + 2,000 = 4,000
  • Total = 58,500

(Above all, you still need to pay for a refundable deposit for the rental card at 500 Yen. I lost my card, so my deposit of 500 Yen cannot be refund)

So if you are going for more days, you can explore Mountain Center and if you certain that you will be doing more days.

Because there will not be refunds.

If not, renting at Club Med Rental Shops will be ok too.

As we are driving, hence we can pick up the gears and load it in the car. I'm sure there are cheaper Rentals at Otaru. So if you want more savings, you can even explore renting at Otaru.

However, the only hassle is if the gear malfunction, you need to head down.

Dining Options: A Culinary Journey

Meal times were an adventure.

With a menu that changed daily, we savored everything from Hainanese Chicken Rice to Nasi Lemak and indulged in fresh oysters and snow crab legs.

The dining experience catered well to both kids and adults, offering a variety of options to suit all tastes.

Costing: Value for Money

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room – the cost.

Yes, the price tag for Club Med Kiroro is hefty, but when you break down what’s included (meals, ski passes, lessons, and kids’ activities), it’s pretty value for money.

Our 6-night stay cost us around $6,200 for the family, which, considering the quality and range of inclusions, felt worth it.

Let’s dive into the cost and see why staying at Club Med Kiroro gave us more bang for our buck.

We spent about $6200 for a 6-night stay for the whole gang – that's two grown-ups and two kids, with one kiddo staying for free because under 4 Years old.

Now, let's break down the value we got out of this spend.

Cost Breakdown:

  • Ski Passes: For adults, a 5-day pass costs 37,000 Yen, which is roughly $330. For the kiddo, it's about 20,000 Yen or around $180.
  • Meals: If we were to eat at a buffet restaurant, considering three meals a day for the fam could easily cost us about $150 daily per pax.
  • Accommodation: Getting a similar quality room elsewhere in the area would be about $450 a night.
  • Ski Lessons: These aren’t cheap either. For quality instruction like we got, you’re looking at $150 a day easily.
  • Ski Pass: Ski Pass cost like $70 value per day which is included in the stay.

Daily Value:

So, per day, if we add up meals ($150), accommodation ($150), lessons ($150), and ski pass plus activities ($100+), we're looking at a daily value of about $550.

Multiply that by 6 nights, and we get a total value of around $3,300+ per person.

For three people (since one kiddo was free), that's about $10,000+ in value.

Extra Costs:

We did have to pay extra for the Petit Club, which was about $100 SGD a day for 5 days, adding $500 to our cost.

Total Cost vs. Value:

So, our total spend was around $6,700 when you include the Petit Club costs.

But, when you look at the value we got, which was more than $8,500, it's clear we got way more value than what we paid for.

Airport Transfer

Club Med Kiroro Grand offers a transfer service that you can book alongside your stay, and honestly, it’s worth every penny for the peace of mind and convenience it brings.

With our experience with Club Med Tomamu, right after collecting our bags, a friendly staff will greet you and bring you to the coach or van depending on the number of guests.

However! The cost will also be a factor to consider.

  • Adult - S$194 x 2
  • Kids - S$156 x 2
  • Total - S$700

For our Club Med Kiroro trip, we rented the car as we are heading elsewhere after staying at Club Med. Hence, renting a car will be more time saving.

(Read Here for Driving vs Airport Transfer to Club Med Kiroro)

Cost wise is pretty much similar.

We rented our car for S$1,200 for 11 Days. Including the 11 days high way pass S$100, the total rental charge is S$1,300.

Petrol Cost us around - $100

So total Driving cost is - $1,400.

Overall Experience: Absolutely Fab

From the snowy adventures to the moments of relaxation and delicious meals, our stay at Club Med Kiroro was nothing short of fabulous.

The welcoming atmosphere and range of activities made it a holiday to remember.

So, Worth It? Absolutely Lah!

Would I recommend Club Med Kiroro for your next family getaway?

Absolutely lah!

It’s the perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and family fun.

If you’re after a hassle-free winter holiday that’s enjoyable for both kids and adults, this place should be on your radar.

For the memories and experiences we gathered, Club Med Kiroro gets a big thumbs up from us.
